Paul Anthony and Jennifer Neil shared snack ideas and tips for meal prep on Global Calgary. Their three takeaways for meal prep are:
- To make it fun to demonstrate good habits and keep yourself committed.
- To make bite size snacks for portability and convenience.
- Commit two-three hours to meal prep for two to three days’ worth of food.
They shared some delicious healthy snack ideas too!
- Rice cakes with almond butter.
- Apples dipped in almond butter mixed with honey.
- Cottage cheese with sliced strawberries and cinnamon.
- Tuna mixed with light mayo and spices (paprika, seasoned salt, and pepper), stuffed into a fresh bell pepper.
- “Egg muffins”, baked crustless quiches with a variety of mix-ins like turkey bacon, different herbs, or cheese.
They stressed that having healthy alternatives for your typical go-to snacks like chips and buttery popcorn or cookies can be key to a healthy diet, so having those snacks handy instead of the junk food is equally important.
