Paul Anthony and Jennifer Neil shared snack ideas and tips for meal prep on Global Calgary. Their three takeaways for meal prep are:

  • To make it fun to demonstrate good habits and keep yourself committed.
  • To make bite size snacks for portability and convenience.
  • Commit two-three hours to meal prep for two to three days’ worth of food.

They shared some delicious healthy snack ideas too!

  1. Rice cakes with almond butter.
  2. Apples dipped in almond butter mixed with honey.
  3. Cottage cheese with sliced strawberries and cinnamon.
  4. Tuna mixed with light mayo and spices (paprika, seasoned salt, and pepper), stuffed into a fresh bell pepper.
  5. “Egg muffins”, baked crustless quiches with a variety of mix-ins like turkey bacon, different herbs, or cheese.

They stressed that having healthy alternatives for your typical go-to snacks like chips and buttery popcorn or cookies can be key to a healthy diet, so having those snacks handy instead of the junk food is equally important.
