It’s amazing the lengths people will go to in hopes of concealing their age: plastic surgery, fad diets, or spending thousands of dollars on skin care products and trips to the salon. This is NOT gender specific.

A recent study conducted by L’Oreal about men and the natural aging process revealed:

  • Since 2008, the number of male patrons at salons dyeing their hair rose by 50%.
  • Since 2009, male plastic surgery has grown in popularity with an overall 14% increase in male facelifts, and a 9% increase in Botox use.

I don't Botox and I have never had cosmetic surgery. I'm 50-years-old and I am defying the laws of aging by practicing healthy choices.

  1. Take Care of Your Skin: According to the Journal of the European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology, a man’s attractiveness is heavily based on the appearance of his complexion. In order to protect your skin and keep it looking youthful, be sure to:
    • Wear appropriate SPF sunscreen and stay out of the sun.
    • Wear moisturizer to prevent dry skin.
    • Drink plenty of water, keep your body properly hydrated.
  2. Make Healthy Choices: Adhering to an overall healthy lifestyle will help you look and feel younger. Simple ways to achieve this are:
    • Getting sufficient sleep, 7-9 hours.
    • Don't smoke.
    • Eating a balanced diet — Mediterranean-style including lots of fruits, fish, veggies.
    • Exercising regularly.
  3. Dress Appropriately: Dressing your age is a simple anti-aging tip.If you’re 45-years-old and wearing the same outfit as an 18-year-old, you’ll appear older than you actually are.
  4. Man-scape: Nothing will date you quite like wild and overgrown body hair. Trimming unwanted and unruly body hair will keep you looking younger and more attractive. Keep an eye on the growth of ear hair, nose hair, and eyebrows.
